This cocktail is a perfect ending to a very busy holiday weekend. With the craziness of travelling and shopping these past few days, it's time to put up your tired feet, relax and sip on some deliciousness. This drink is perfect for the cool, fall weather.
This recipe comes from the Woodford Reserve's website and is so easy to make.
Ingredients:
1/2 oz Spiced brown sugar syrup
1 1/2 oz Espresso
1/2 oz Coffee liqueur
2 oz Straight bourbon whiskey
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a shaker tin, add ice, shake and strain into a chilled glass.
Now, you may be saying to yourself, this sounds wonderful and all, but I don't have any spiced brown sugar syrup. Well, not to worry, I've got you covered. Woodford Reserve provides their own recipe. However, I wanted to try something different, something with a little more spice. So, let me first share Woodford Reserve's recipe for Spiced Brown Sugar Syrup before I get to the one, I used.
Ingredients:
2 Cups dark brown sugar
1 Cup water
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Mix all 3 ingredients
Cook on low heat.
Now, the Spiced Brown Sugar Syrup recipe I used, I found on cooking.nytimes.com. And, as a bonus, this recipe made my house smell absolutely fantastic!
Ingredients:
1 Cup of brown sugar
3 Cinnamon sticks, broken into smaller pieces
8 Whole cloves
1 Cup of water
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a medium sized saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove pan from heat, let it cool down and then strain.
No matter which syrup recipe you choose for your Holiday Espresso Manhattan Cocktail, it will be delicious.
Cheers and have a wonderful evening!
