Chase on the Lake, Walker, MN

chase hotel

It was built in 1918 by Lewis and Louise Chase on the site of the old Spencer Hotel.  There have been many reports of eerie things happening such as guests hearing footsteps in the hallway, knocks at the door, unplugged phones ringing, shadows being seen, voices down in the speakeasy room, objects being thrown in front of the desk clerk, and the display of the original mourning dresses, that were worn on Opening Day, moving as if a breeze had come through the room but all windows and doors were closed.

Could the strange events be because there were at least six guests who died of natural causes or possibly the owners’ son Loren who died shortly before the opening of the hotel?  And in 1897, the Battle of Sugar Point was fought nearby and supposedly both the wounded and the dead were brought back to the property where the Chase Hotel now stands.

On October 23rd, 2009, I had the opportunity to investigate with the crew from Darkness Radio and K102.  I am excited to see what kind, if any, evidence was found of paranormal activity.
