The Lady Of The Lake

The boat had touched this silver strand
Just as the Hunter left his stand,
And stood concealed amid the brake,
To view this Lady of the Lake.
The maiden paused, as if again
She thought to catch the distant strain.
With head upraised, and look intent,
And eye and ear attentive bent,
And locks flung back, and lips apart,
Like monument of Grecian art,
In listening mood, she seemed to stand,
The guardian Naiad of the strand.
~Sir Walter Scott
Rumor has it that in Lebanon Hills Park in Dakota County, Minnesota, there is a lady of the lake. Witnesses claim to have seen a woman in the center of the lake, beckoning people to come to her aide. Other accounts, claim of hearing a woman calling out for help followed by blood curdling screams. Also, legend has it that the woods, surrounding the lake, are haunted as well with children’s laughter often being heard.
