Wrap It Up To Go, Please
If you haven’t figured it out by now, not only am I obsessed with the paranormal, but I am obsessed with odd things in general.
Today, I was surfing the internet for odd stories (shhhh…don’t tell my boss) when I came across one from the Associated Press.
They reported that a British TV company is seeking a terminally ill patient to donate their body to be mummified as part of a documentary on the ancient Egyptian embalming process.
“A Channel 4 spokesman said Monday that Fulcrum TV, an independent production company, has produced ads seeking such an individual to be mummified after death.
The spokesman said Fulcrum is working with unidentified scientists to research the embalming procedure.”
Fulcrum TV has already received some funding for the project from Channel 4, and the station may air a program if a donor is found.
Wouldn’t that be cool?
Now, just in case you don’t know what the Egyptian mummification process would entail, it begins with washing the recently deceased in a purification solution of natron which is a compound of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate.
The internal organs would be removed, washed, dried, and wrapped in bandages, then placed in jars or some type of vessels. Dried natron then would be put on the body to help with the dehydration process, and the body would be left alone for 40 days.
After 40 days, the body would be stuffed with clean natron, resin soaked bandages and sweet, smelling spices. Then, the body would be coated in resin and completely wrapped in bandages.
The whole process would take about 70 days.
Very interesting, don’t you think?
Sending you some paranormal love,
